About us
We’re feel strongly about producing free-range eggs to the highest standards
The Cluckery is home to 32,000 happy, free-roaming hens who lay delicious, nutritious eggs that are available at the farm gate, farm shops and at farmers markets, as well as in Tesco supermarkets via Anglia Free Range.
We are Red Tractor farm assured and also certified for the British Lion mark which ensures we perform we deliver the highest standards of food safety. It guarantees that all our hens are vaccinated against Salmonella, and we have a ‘passport’ system that ensures all our hens, eggs and feed is fully traceable.
Highest standards
We’re proud to bear the RSPCA Assured mark which is testament to the strict procedures we adhere to, to ensure the highest levels of welfare for our hens.
Our eggs are in Tesco
Our eggs fill the shelves of Tesco stores across East Anglia via Anglia Free Range Eggs. We produce around 30,000 eggs every day.
Lucky ladies
Our hens enjoy roaming around in 16 hectares (the size of 10 full-size football pitches) of luscious grass every day. We’ve also planted 2,000 trees for them, too.
Musical hens
By night, for their protection, the hens are indoors in two spacious sheds. We provide cultural enrichment with children’s toys, watering cans and musical instruments including glockenspiels!
Chickens, cows & sheep
Our livestock includes our 32,000 Lohmann Brown & Warren chickens, a grass-fed 50-cow continental beef suckler herd in Repps, and a flock of Southdown sheep on our farm at Catfield
More than just a humble egg
Eggs are really good for you. A single egg has just 77 calories, 6 grams of protein and 5 grams of healthy fats.
Renewable energy
The Cluckery generates its own electricity thanks to the solar panels that line the roof of the chicken shed.
We love nature
Protecting nature and the environment is important to us. We grow wildflower margins and beetle banks, and have created ‘scrapes’ so wading birds like lapwings can enjoy them
The Cluckery mill
We’ll soon be launching our own mill that will use crops from our own, and neighbouring, farms to create the unique supplementary feed for our hens.
